Man Slaughter: Man Kidnapped And Stoned To Death Over Ransome

The defendants acted contrary to sections 97, 17, 15 of the terrorism (Prevention) Act 2013


Five accused persons have been remanded in prison custody by a Kano State Senior Magistrates’ Court for allegedly kidnapping and stoning a 70-year-old man to death.

The accused, identified

The accused, identified as Wada Mohammed-30 years old, Ya’u Muhammad -22 years old Musa Inusa-35 years old, Sale Buba-27 years old and Sule Garba- 45 years old.

Along side the offense, the suspects have also been charged with five other counts

These offenses boarders on criminal conspiracy, kidnapping, armed robbery, culpable homicide and illegal possession of arms

The deceased, Usman Danbuba, was reportedly kidnapped on May 18, 2017 in the Doguwa Local Government Area of Kano


Police investigation

Inspector Yusuf Sle, the prosecutor, told the court that the accused attacked the victim with an AK47 rifle,cutlasses and knives in his home

Sle adds that the accused kidnapped and robbed the victim of the sum of N85, 000 as well as his motorcycle:

“Soon after kidnapping the victim, the accused took him to their hideout on Shetu Hills in Falgore Forest,Kano

“Where they demanded N5m ransom from his family members.” Sle says.

More so, the prosecutor says the defendants stoned Danbuba to death on May 22 because of his family’s inability to pay the ransom

According to the prosecutor, the defendants acted contrary to sections 97, 17, 15 of the terrorism (Prevention) Act 2013

Similar to it is the provisions of the Robbery and Firearms Special Act Cap 221 of the Penal Code


Court Verdict

Aminu Fagge, presiding magistrate has however ordered that the defendants should be remanded in prison custody

The case has been adjourned till October 23 for mention.
